The New Hanover Township Municipal Stormwater Management Plan establishes comprehensive policies to protect local water resources, prevent property flooding, and manage runoff from new and existing development. Designed to meet state environmental mandates and Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) requirements, the plan sets strict standards for groundwater recharge, stormwater quantity control, and non-point source pollution reduction. It incorporates Best Management Practices (BMPs) for green infrastructure, regulates design standards for drainage systems, and guides the ongoing inspection and maintenance of municipal basins, swales, and outfalls to preserve the integrity and ecological health of the township's watersheds.
