REGISTRAR LICENSE APPLICATIONS
MARRIAGE LICENSE
A New Jersey marriage license must be applied for through the Local Registrar in the municipality where either applicant resides, or (if neither is an NJ resident) in the municipality where the ceremony will be performed. The application requires proof of identity, residency, Social Security numbers, an adult witness, and a fee payable of $28.00 (cash or check accepted). State law mandates a 72-hour waiting period before the license can be issued, and once active, it remains valid for 30 days. Call the Clerk's office to set up an application appointment.
MERCANTILE LICENSE
Often referred to as a local business license, a mercantile license is issued by New Hanover Township to authorize and regulate commercial enterprises, rental properties, and storefronts operating within town limits. Businesses are required to register annually to ensure adherence to local ordinance laws, and safety codes. Applications must be accompanied by a certification from the Wrightstown Fire Official (609-723-4450 - ext. 15) and a fee payable of $75.00 (cash or check accepted).
PET LICENSE
Under New Jersey state law, all dogs reaching seven months of age must be licensed annually through the local municipality where they are housed. To secure a license and official registration tag, owners must provide proof that the animal has a valid rabies vaccination certified by a licensed veterinarian to last through most of the licensing period. License fees are $15.00 for spayed and neutered dogs, and $18.00 for unspayed dogs.
LIQUOR LICENSE
Regulated jointly by the New Jersey Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) and local municipal governing bodies, liquor licenses are required for the manufacture, wholesale, or retail sale of alcoholic beverages. Licenses are split into specific classifications depending on the intended activity, such as plenary retail consumption for bars and restaurants, distribution for package goods, or club licenses for non-profit organizations. RAFFLE/ GAMES OF CHANCE LICENSE
Controlled by the New Jersey Legalized Games of Chance Control Commission (LGCCC) and issued locally by the municipal clerk, this license is required for eligible charitable, religious, or civic organizations hosting events like 50/50s, bingo, or carnivals. Organizations must first hold an active registration with the state before submitting local applications well in advance for municipal governing body review and state fee processing.
